Breastfeeding ~ Fairfax, VA.

I had the pleasure of documenting Alicia's breastfeeding journey the other day. We talked about our struggles and successes in breastfeeding. It was so nice to be able to chat with someone without any judgement.

I, personally, had many struggles with breastfeeding. My son had an undiagnosed lip tie until he was 1. By that point it was way too late because I had given up at 2 months. My son wasn't thriving so we supplemented and eventually switched all together. My son is now almost 3 and you'd never know by looking at him he struggled to eat in the beginning.

Breastfeeding sessions are some of my favorites because it's a simple way to capture a really short and special time in a mamas life. The bond between mother and child while nursing is indescribable. Even through all the struggle.

      

       

Lifestyle Newborn ~ Falls Church, VA.

You guys, I cannot get over this newborn session! Little Maddie was so sweet! Not to mention the couples first baby (their pup Barkus) was on-point the whole time. If little Maddie cried or so much as made a peep, Barkus was there crying and making sure she was OK. I cannot wait to see their friendship unfold as she gets older. That pup is devoted and protective already and it's swoon-worthy.

One of the things I love about newborn sessions is the inevitable downtime. Either while the baby is eating, being changed, or just being snuggled to keep them happy. So I get to know my clients and even the grandparents during this time. I talked a lot with grandma (Bubby) during this session. She had some serious labor war stories! It reminds me that women are really freaking warriors no matter how they give birth.

Maternity Milk Bath ~ Aldie, VA

About a month ago I held my first milk bath sessions for free and I fell in love! Kate and Krista are some seriously badass open-minded mamas. I so appreciate the opportunity I had to share this experience with them as we spent the day creating art together.
